Slashdot looks more like a website while Metafilter looks like a log. I don't know if one is really more organized than the other but Slashdot is a more familiar, thus more accessable format.
MetaFilter, Slashdot? They’re so Web 1.0. You should be looking at digg, clipmarks or Rojo. Of course Rojo users use Rojo to read Metafilter.
